Supporting Young People

Are you finding session difficult due to behaviour?    Do you feel you need some help and ideas? This training is for you.  It covers the learning for Module 14 of the Scout Adult Training Scheme.

Areas covered:

  • Characteristics and development of young people.
  • External influences on young people.
  • Creating a supportive environment for young people.
  • Responding to issues affecting young people.

To sign up, please e-mail our County Training Administrator – mark.strain@scoutshw.org.uk including the following information:

  • names and dates of courses being applied for,
  • full name,
  • Scout membership number, Scout appointment, Group and District (and County if not from Hereford and Worcester),
  • contact phone number and e-mail and
  • any needs we should take into consideration for the delivery of the course(s).

If you feel that you already have the appropriate skills and knowledge covered in this course, but haven’t yet validated it, please get in touch with your Training Adviser.

To validate the module you should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of all the areas covered in the training

and one of the following:

  • describe how your section provides a supportive environment for young people
  • create an action plan to develop the supportive environment for young people
  • show evidence of communicating appropriately with young people.

and one of the following:

  • Show evidence of responding effectively to issues affecting young people in the section
  • plan and deliver an activity raising awareness of issues affecting young people.
