Kinver Outdoor Activity and Campsite Operations Manager

We’re looking for someone to join our team, on a paid basis, who is just as passionate as we are about getting young people outdoors to have an adventure. You will have some great leadership experience learned over at least 2 years and will be happy to support all aspects of operating a busy Outdoor Campsite and Centre.

The purpose of this role is to carry out all activities that ensure the smooth running of the Kinver campsite, including all residential and day visitors, outdoor activity provision and programme management, including the maintenance of the site and its assets. The role encompasses marketing, administration, customer service and activity provision.  The role holder will be required to uphold the values and interests of Scouting. You must be able and willing to work weekends and evenings as required.

You would be accountable for:

  • Market the campsite, sustain current userbase and target new customers to ensure revenue is maintained 
  • Develop the use of Scouting on the site within the Scout County of Hereford and Worcester in partnership with the Trustees 
  • Manage and implement safety and operational policies on site 
  • Manage camp and activity booking system 
  • Manage team of volunteer camp wardens 
  • Manage team of volunteer and professional activity leaders to delivery activity programmes 
  • Manage and maintain the site and all of its assets through contractors, volunteers and personal duties   
  • Manage adventure and activity kit in-line with industry standards 
  • Provide quarterly reports to the trustees on the status and usage of the site

Experience

  • Knowledge of working with Volunteers
  • Knowledge of Scout Movement and culture.
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety issues relating to managing facilities
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the English education systems
  • Hold a Full UK driving licence (ideally with D1)
  • Proven experience managing budgets

It is desirable that candidates have a suite of the following national governing body awards: 

  • CWA/ ERCA (including variants) / SPA/ CWI/ RCI 
  • Archery GB Instructor including crossbows and tomahawks 
  • NRA Instructor 
  • First Aid 
  • PPE Inspector
  • Chainsaw Use 

Salary:
Upto £25,000 plus £500 training allowance, laptop and mobile phone provided.

Location:
Kinver Campsite, Kinver, DY7 6HR

Term:
18 months contract with potentional to lead to permanent contract

Hours:
37.5 hours per week

Holidays:
25 days per annum pro-rata plus bank holidays plus upto 5 “NGB training” days a year
