Kinver Camp

Kinver Gateway Damage – 30th Nov 2025

During the recent storm, our much-loved camp gate suffered significant damage. At this weekend’s working party, we inspected the structure and discovered that the supporting spurs had deteriorated and become unstable.

We carefully removed and secured the key elements of the sign, including the iconic Kinver white letters and the arrowhead. However, when attempting to remove the chain links, it became clear that the entire framework was no longer safe.

With safety as our priority, we made the decision to take the gate down so that it can be repaired, refreshed, and rebuilt. The Kinver sign and arrowhead have been safely preserved with some damage to the letter “R”, though the remaining spurs were unfortunately beyond repair.

We will share further updates as the restoration process progresses.

Important Update

Following the announcement (YouTube Link) of our Trustees’ intention to support Kinver Campsites’ future in a more sustainable position, from the 10th November 2025, we are not taking any Scout, Guide or Youth Organisation Bookings.

If you are a commercial provider, we can discuss bookings on a case by case basis.

Update for other customer bookings

Kinver is now entering a period of transition, and while we are able to support camping bookings up to 18 January 2026, we are unfortunately unable to honour any bookings beyond this date.

We’re very sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience this may cause. We know how important Kinver has been to so many groups over the years, and we are committed to making this process as smooth as possible.

If your booking falls after 18 January 2026, it has now been cancelled. An email has been sent to the details we hold on file provided at the point of booking. Please speak to the person in your organisation who made the administrative booking.

FAQ on the future of Kinver Campsite

  • Is the Campsite going to be sold?
Put simply, no. There are no plans to sell the campsite.
  • Will Scouting on the site remain?
Yes. We have made a clear commitment that the local Scout Group currently using the site will continue to meet where they always have. This commitment has been confirmed at various leadership levels within Herefordshire & Worcestershire and West Mercia Scout Counties and relevant districts.
  • Will Scout camping on the site remain?
It is our intention to ensure that a sustainable business model continues to support affordable camping for Scouting at the site, in collaboration with any third party we partner with.
  • Was the campsite gifted to us?
No, the campsite was not gifted. The land was purchased, and payment was made to the original landowner. Initially, the land was made available for use at no cost and was later purchased outright.
  • Has the campsite been making a loss?
No, the campsite has not operated at a loss for several years. Revenue has fluctuated over time, most notably during the period affected by Covid-19.

The 11 camp sites are complemented by the Chief’s Lodge, Jim Jukes Cabin, Harcourt Webb Cabin, Compa Hall, Albert All and Simmons Cabins for those requiring indoor accommodation.

The site also offers a fire shelter, shop, laundry and large toilet/shower facility.

This site is open all year to members of the Scout Association and all other recognised youth organisations and Associations. Other associations/groups need to contact the Operations Manager to discuss their requirements before booking.

This is not a public camp site and therefore we cannot take bookings from individual members for the public or the use of the facilities unless they require the whole site for a private event.
