New County Youth Commissioner for 2019

Meet Harry….

“I am Harry Bantham-Jones. I have been a scout for 12 years now however, my scouting experiences started a long time before I was a member thanks to my mother being a Cub leader. I attended my first camp at the age of 3 months old, and due to my love of camping whilst being a member of the scouts I have reached 150 nights away. In the past few years. I have taken my love of camping to the next level and widened my knowledge of scouting around the world by taking part in some international camps. These camps have taken me to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and allowed me to meet scouts from Portugal, Lebanon, Sweden, Spain and many more. I have worked my way through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, and I am currently working towards my Queen Scout award, which I hope to complete within the next year. I am part of the Shirejam core team and my next challenge in my scouting journey is taking on the role of County Youth Commissioner.”

Over the coming months, Harry will be traveling around the County and hopes to see fellow members at Shirejam and other County events. Harry will be championing youth-led Scouting and supporting the great work happening across districts and the County.  Harry will also be looking for a team of Deputy County Youth Commissioners to support work within all sections.

Nature and the outdoors are languages that can be learned. Once you identify a beech tree, tie a clove hitch or cook a simple meal over a fire that you’ve built yourself, you’ll never forget it.'
