Eryri (Snowdonia) Scout & Explorer Scout Mountain Walking Weekend
This is an opportunity for Scouts and Explorer Scouts to enjoy two days of walking amongst the most iconic peaks in the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and, weather allowing, to climb to the tops, all lead by experienced terrain 2 hillwalking permit holders.
In past years we have walked the Carneddau, Glyders, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) itself, as well as outlier peaks such as Moel Siabod. Routes will be decided on the weekend and there will be different options depending on ability and of course the weather.
The weekend is pitched at those who have some hill walking experience and a good level of fitness as we’ll be in the mountains all day. Most important is that everyone has all the kit on the list so we stay safe – kit list will be sent by email, see below.
All attendees can, if they wish, practice their navigation, and walk leaders will be happy to help young people earn navigation and hill walking badges, as well as to coach anyone adult volunteers working towards hillwalking permits.
Accommodation is fully catered in the comfortable Cae Groes House in Llanrwst.
Scouts will be accompanied by their own leaders and booking will be through them, as will transport to and from Eryri Snowdonia.
Cost is £50 – this includes accommodation and food from Saturday breakfast to Sunday Lunch. Not included is transport costs to and from Snowdonia and food for Friday evening and Sunday evening, for which groups may make an additional charge.
Leaders are invited to register their interest in taking Scouts/Explorer Scouts on the trip by emailing the event organiser and Hillwalking advisor, Mark Graham on mark.graham@scoutshw.org.uk. Mark will then send you a booking form, kit list and more details.
