Young Leaders

The Young Leaders’ Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section. These young people are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote a large proportion of their time in Scouting to service in another section. All leaders who are between the ages of 14 and 18 and are volunteering in the Beaver, Cub and Scout Sections must be members of a Young Leader Unit.

The Young Leaders’ Scheme helps Explorer Scouts to develop and grow as individuals. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfil the service elements of their Top Awards.

Scouts HW runs training courses to support the training given in Districts and Groups. The dates and information on the courses for 2022 can be found here:

Nature and the outdoors are languages that can be learned. Once you identify a beech tree, tie a clove hitch or cook a simple meal over a fire that you’ve built yourself, you’ll never forget it.'
