Young Leaders

The Young Leaders’ Scheme is one of the exciting elements in the Explorer Scout section. These young people are Explorer Scouts who choose to join the leadership team of a younger Scouting section – Scouts, Cubs, Beavers or Squirrels – to gain leadership skills and work alongside adult leaders.

All Young Leaders who are between the ages of 14 and 18 must be registered members of a Young Leader Unit. This may be in addition to their Explorer Unit.

The Young Leaders’ Scheme helps Explorer Scouts to develop and grow as individuals. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfil the service elements of their Top Awards (Platinum, Diamond, King’s Scout and Duke of Edinburgh).

Scouts HW runs training courses to support the training given in Districts and Groups:
